West Ham United now want late deal for Flamengo striker Pedro amid £51 development
West Ham have turned their attentions to £51million-rated Flamengo forward Pedro, according to The Daily Mirror.
The newspaper reported on page 52 of its print edition on 31 August that the Hammers are eyeing a deal for the Brazilian international after failing in their bid to sign his compatriot Yuri Alberto from Corinthians.
The Irons’ technical director Tim Steidten is currently in Brazil in a bid to land a new forward, with securing a deal for the 26-year-old now a priority for the German.
Get it done
Time is quickly running out as West Ham look to sign a new forward by the time the transfer deadline rolls around on Friday (1 September).
It’s no surprise to see a move for Alberto break down after Sky Sports reported on its live transfer feed on 29 August (11:04am) that it was a “problematic” transfer to conclude for the 22-year-old due to the number of representatives and intermediaries involved.

The move for Pedro should, hopefully, be more straightforward and Steidten will no doubt be currently feeling out the situation to see if it’s possible to make it happen within the next 36 hours.
The Brazilian, who has made six appearances for his country after making their World Cup squad last year, has a £51million release clause, but the Mirror believes the Hammers are looking to pay “much less” than that to sign him.
The forward has an excellent record for Flamengo, having scored 94 goals in 197 appearances for the Rio de Janeiro-based club, suggesting he could be a hit in East London if he can adapt to the Premier League.
In other West Ham news, the club are eyeing a move for a “sensational” Champions League-winning defender.
