Tyrese Campbell, Michael Rose – Stoke City injury news ahead of Millwall clash

Latest Stoke City team news as Alex Neil prepares for trip to Gary Rowett’s Millwall in the Championship

Summer signing Michael Rose will have a groin injury assessed after being withdrawn during Stoke City’s Championship win over Watford.

The 27-year-old played as the middle centre-half in a back three but made way for the final 20 minutes as his side were on their way to a 1-0 victory. The injury, plus a switch to wing-backs, highlights why Alex Neil is still keen to add to his stable of centre-backs before deadline day on September 1.

Rose is an early doubt for next Saturday’s trip to Gary Rowett’s Millwall but hopes to give his manager a dilemma of sticking with 3-5-2 or reverting to a 4-3-3.

Tyrese Campbell could return to training proper tomorrow after recovering from a thigh injury which has ruled him out of the first four games of the season in league and cup.

The 23-year-old forward is expected to have his final ‘crossover day’ with fitness staff today to tick off boxes such as getting back to full speed before he can be reintegrated with the rest of the squad. He could be back in contention in time to feature at The Den at the weekend.

Emre Tezgel, aged 17, is being given more training time in hope he can stay injury free.

Midfielder Lewis Baker, aged 28, remains in recuperation following knee surgery and is likely to remain on the sidelines until at least next month.
