Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo will miss the start of the season through injury amid interest from Leeds United.

The Red Devils confirmed via their official website Diallo will be out of action for the first part of the campaign after picking up a knee injury while on the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.

Diallo enjoyed a superb loan spell in the Championship at Sunderland last term with his former Black Cats teammate Luke O’Nien describing him as ‘incredible’.

As such, Man United handed Diallo the opportunity to stake a claim for a first team place ahead of the new season, including playing 45 minutes against Leeds at the beginning of July.

That, however, has not stopped loan interest in his services arriving from both Premier League and Championship clubs, with Leeds among those reportedly targeting a move.

With no proper timescale put on the injury, it is uncertain how much exactly of the season Diallo is set to miss.

The chances of pulling of a deal such as this one usually becomes more clear towards the end of the window when Premier League clubs have finalised their squads.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen how this injury could affect a potential loan exit before the end of the window, as a prolonged absence would almost make signing him redundant until January.

However, if the early stages of the season means just the first month or two, it could be a deal that Leeds look to revisit in the last couple of days of the window.

That is especially if Leeds are still in need of a new number 10, which Daniel Farke has already referenced as an important position to address.
