Georgia 5-star offensive tackle commitment will return to Ohio State next week

The Buckeyes made strides with a Georgia 5-star offensive tackle commitment on his Ohio State visit in July. He will be back in Columbus next weekend.

Jordan Seaton won’t be the only 5-star offensive tackle visiting Ohio State next weekend.

In late July, Bucknuts posted the news that 5-star 2025 Georgia offensive line commitment Micah Debose from Mobile (Ala.) Vigor would be in Ohio and would visit Ohio State for a day during the last week of July.

That visit indeed happened, and DeBose was impressed. He also left Ohio State having been offered a scholarship by the Buckeyes on the visit.

While DeBose remained committed to Georgia, he said he definitely had an interest in the Buckeyes and would make it back to Ohio State.

“I am considering Ohio State,” DeBose said at the time. “It is my hometown college. I definitely will get back as soon as possible. I really want to go to the Ohio State versus the team up north game.”

Ohio State and Rutgers have been in the same division in the Big Ten for nine seasons, since the Scarlet Knights joined the conference in 2014. In that time, the series between the two teams has been very one sided with the Buckeyes winning each of the nine matchups by at least 22 points

On Saturday, the top-ranked Scarlet and Gray meet Rutgers again at SHI Stadium — where they’ve won on their four previous trips by an average of 43 points. Ohio State hopes to continue its undefeated season that so far has the team No. 1 in the country, according to the College Football Playoff selection committee.

Rutgers is in the midst of its best season in recent memory. Head coach Greg Schiano, who was the Buckeye defensive coordinator from 2016 to 2018, has the Scarlet Knights playing some of their best football since joining the Big Ten. Sitting at 6-2 overall this year (3-2 in conference play), Rutgers is bowl eligible for the first time since 2014. An upset of the Scarlet and Gray would have those in Piscataway, New Jersey, really buying into what Schiano is building, for the second time, with the Scarlet Knights.
