Ohio State running back Miyan Williams will miss the rest of the season, per head coach Ryan Day. The type of injury was not revealed, but Day did say that Williams recently “had a procedure done.” Day added that “it’s a big hit to our running back room, but we’re fortunate that we have some good depth there.”

The 5-foot-9, 228-pound Williams is in his fourth season, but is eligible to return for a fifth season in 2024. Day said no decision has been made regarding Williams’ plans for next year.

In 2023, Williams rushed for 158 yards (3.2 yards per carry) and three touchdowns. In 2022, Williams led the team with 14 rushing touchdowns and 825 rushing yards (6.4 yards per carry). In 2021, the Cincinnati native had 507 rushing yards (7.1 ypc) and three TDs. As a true freshman in 2020, he carried 10 times for 64 yards.

As a junior at Winton Woods High School in 2018, Williams finished as the runner-up to Cade Stover for Ohio’s Mr. Football award, which is given out annually by the Associated Press.

TreVeyon Henderson is the Buckeyes’ starting tailback. He is backed up by Chip TrayanumDallan Hayden and Evan Pryor. The staff was trying to redshirt Hayden, but that plan might be out the window now due to Williams’ season coming to an end.

After missing three games due to a rib injury, Henderson returned this past Saturday at Wisconsin and rushed 24 times for 162 yards (6.8 yards per carry) and a touchdown. He added four receptions for 45 yards. For the season, the 5-foot-10, 212-pound Henderson leads the Buckeyes with 457 rushing yards (6.7 ypc) and six TDs.

It is unclear when Williams suffered his injury. He played against Penn State two weeks ago, then surprisingly was listed as “out” on OSU’s availability report for the Wisconsin game.
