BREAKING: Jacksonville Jaguars Reveal Trevor Lawrence’s Official Status For Week 16
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been dealing with multiple injuries the last few weeks. He is currently dealing with a concussion and an ankle injury, which has kept him very limited in practice. Lawrence has started every game this season so far, however, that looks like it will be in jeopardy this week as his official status for Jacksonville’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been revealed, and Jaguars fans will not be happy about it.
Lawrence is officially listed as questionable to play in the team’s game this week. He has been on the team’s injury report since suffering a brutal injury against the Cincinnati Bengals back in week 13. The star quarterback was able to practice for the first time this week on Friday and is “trending in the right direction” according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Although Lawrence has made great strides in his recovery, he is not completely out of the woods just yet. He will still have to clear concussion protocol before the team leaves for Tampa Bay on Saturday. According to Pederson, Lawrence will not travel with the team if he cannot be cleared by the time their plane takes off, which would mean backup quarterback C.J. Beathard would get his first start since the 2020 season with the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite playing with injuries all season long, Lawrence has been amongst the top quarterbacks in the league this season. He has a completion percentage of 65.9 percent and has passed for 3,525 yards and 18 touchdowns. While he has put up these numbers, he has struggled recently, and the injuries have certainly affected the way he has performed on the field.
Jacksonville is currently 8-6 and in first place in the tight AFC South division. The Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans are both tied with the Jaguars with the same record, which will make for a fun finish to the playoff race as the 2023 regular season enters the final three games. Will Jacksonville win the division once again, or will the team fall out of the picture because of Lawrence’s injury problems?
