Marco Silva passion play is driving high-flying Fulham to new levels as risks pay off | Evening Standard

Club has stopped responding to rumors but is still in communication with the Fulham player Once an agreement was reached, the manager phoned him.

Joao Palhinha, a standout for Fulham, is still in touch with those in charge at Bayern Munich about a January transfer, despite their current reluctance to do so.

According to SportBILD, Palhinha’s trade from Fulham fell through on the final day of the summer transfer window, and Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel spoke with him about it.

Everything had been set up for Palhinha to relocate to Bavaria, including the medical, according to the publication, but Fulham refused to deliver the papers because they couldn’t find a replacement.

He ended up staying at Craven Cottage and even signing a new deal, but Bayern remain keen on him and ‘the responsible persons’ are ‘still in contact’ with the 28-year-old.

They’re aware that Palhinha is keen on the move too, he even had tears in his eyes when the deal collapsed and he had to head back to England, and an agreement was reached for Bayern to ‘approach the deal again’ in the January window.

The German champions hope that they can even get Palhinha for a lower sum than the €65m they agreed with Fulham this summer.

Thomas Tuchel spoke to the midfielder on the phone after the deal broke down, presumably to confirm his and Bayern’s stance on matters, but the player is unsure whether anything will come of it and the German coach is looking at alternatives.

That is, presumably, why Bayern are refusing to talk about the subject any further, with a report earlier this week detailing their new stance on talking about the player and the failed move.
