Reported £15m Rangers striker target links up with ex-Ger down south

Reported Rangers striker target Karlan Grant has been confirmed at Welsh side Cardiff City where he’ll team up with controversial ex-Ger Aaron Ramsey next season.

The 25-year-old striker has moved on loan to the English Championship side next season, three years on from when parent club West Brom paid Huddersfield Town £15m for his services in 2020.

Karlan Grant’s switch to Cardiff City comes after reports back in May from Darren Witcoop of the Daily Mirror who claimed Rangers had “registered an interest” in the player.

Grant had been linked to Rangers during his time with Charlton Athletic in 2019, with Michael Beale presumably well aware of the forward having worked at Ibrox during the tenure of Steven Gerrard.

Karlan Grant joins Aaron Ramsey at Cardiff City

Joining the striker at Cardiff City will be none other than ex-Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey, a name that conjures up a mixture of underwhelming sighs and Seville flashbacks to Ibrox supporters.

The hype when the now 32-year-old midfielder signed on loan from Juventus was 100% real as Giovanni van Bronckhorst bolstered his squad with the Welsh international.

But Ramsey’s time in Glasgow was besieged by injury – surprise, surprise – and even culminated in the former Arsenal star missing the decisive spot kick in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Now returning to where it all began, Aaron Ramsey will be joined at Cardiff by Karlan Grant as the Bluebirds prepare to make a real fist of it in the Championship next season.

Rangers fans will perhaps keep an eye out for what happens given the links of both players to Ibrox but for all intents and purposes, they will be delighted to see the club move in a different direction.

The Gers have had a busy transfer window already and as Karlan Grant moves to Cardiff, Rangers have already bolstered their frontline with the signings of Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers.

It’s not set to stop there either, with a certain Danilo hinting at a move towards Rangers on social media.
