west Ham United transfer news as bid confirmation emerge for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire
West Ham have seen their bid for Harry Maguire being accepted by Manchester United, according to manager David Moyes.
The Hammers have been chasing the England international, 30, for the past few weeks and appear set to get their man.
Moyes stopped short of saying anything further as the centre-back is still to officially complete his move to the London Stadium.
Moyes said, “We’ve had a bid accepted from Manchester United for Maguire deal. But while he’s not our player I’m not in a position to discuss him.”
Get it done
The fact that Moyes is saying it out loud means it’s getting close and perhaps the defender has given his green signal to join the club.
It’s now subject to a medical and he’ll obviously not be available at the weekend as he’s not going to be signed in time.
There’s a chance he’s unveiled at the game and it remains to be seen whether or not Moyes hands him the captain’s armband.
There were reports about that being used as a bargaining chip in order to get him to the London Stadium so that could happen.
Declan Rice has left and there’s no standout candidate for being the captain so this is something that could happen.
Maguire has been a good player for Leicester and England and it’s solely down to the toxic conditions as Manchester United that he did not thrive for longer there.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
