Coventry City boss Mark Robins addresses Callum O’Hare’s contract situation

Coventry City contract news from CoventryLive as Sky Blues boss Mark Robins is asked about Callum O’Hare’s contract state of play

Mark Robins has addressed Callum O’Hare’s contract situation at Coventry City, insisting that the club fully intends to keep hold of star beyond the end of this season.

Uncertainty surrounds the 25-year-old midfielder’s future due to the fact that he’s in the final nine months of his current deal with the Sky Blues and there’s been no news on the prospect of him signing a new long-term contract to secure his future at the CBS Arena.

Fans are growing increasingly anxious about the situation which the club, as one would expect, are clearly fully aware of and in the process of dealing with, albeit Robins keeping pretty tight-lipped on the process.

Asked by CoventryLive what the situation is as it stands, whether O’Hare has been offered fresh terms; whether talks have started or negotiations are underway/on-going, the manager said: “Well, I’ll let you know when I’ve got something to tell you. But, obviously, we want to keep Callum beyond this season. It’s as simple as that really. So we will endeavour to do just that. I don’t think I can be any clearer than that.”

Pressed on what stage the process is at and asked if it’s fair to assume that contract negotiations have started, Robins said: “Well, like I say, when I’ve got something to tell you… But I haven’t at the moment.”

O’Hare – who is currently working his way back from a long-term ACL injury – is the third of City’s star players that the club have attempted to get tied down to new deals in recent months, following on from Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer – both of whom expressed a desire to leave the club in the summer, prompting the Sky Blues to cash in and sell them for profit rather than risk them seeing out their final 12 months and leaving for free.
