Coventry City Q&A: Best back three combo, midfield dilemma, stuttering start and green and black kit
Coventry City Q&A from CoventryLive as Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner is open to question from 1pm
It’s been one of those starts to Coventry City’s season. It’s not entirely unexpected given the high summer turnover and loss of key players, and these things take time.
Patience appears to be the buzz word among more rational thinking fans while there’s clearly a deep frustration surrounding the fact that the Sky Blues failed to recruit in the one position that looks to have hit them the hardest following the departure of Gustavo Hamer. And sod’s law, the situation has been compounded by an early season injury to Ben Sheaf.
The news that Milan van Ewijk and Kasey Palmer will also be out for six-eight weeks has added further woe to City’s attempt to get their campaign up and running, with Mark Robins forced to find a way with the players he has at his disposal. So what are the answers? Does he experiment and play players out of position, the old square pegs in round holes to get through a difficult few months, or press on with existing available personnel?

What’s your take on City’s strikers? So far Matty Godden has carried the burden with six goals in nine games as he’s partnered either Ellis Simms or Haji Wright. Simms had his best game to date on Monday night, so is he the man in possession this weekend?
Meanwhile, the defence has started to look a bit shaky late on in games, seemingly unable to hold onto a fragile lead. With five centre-backs vying for three positions, what’s the best combination?
The club launched their new third kit this week – harking back to green and black from years gone by. What are your first impressions? It’s set to be worn for the first time this weekend when the Sky Blues travel to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers, looking for only their second win of the season.
