Kieran Dowell: Todd Cantwell sold me Rangers dream

Speaking to the press after joining with the Gers this summer, Dowell claims that he reached out to Cantwell for advice on the switch and it helped to seal a deal to bring the out-of-contract Canary to Glasgow.

It’s not just Todd Cantwell who has been convincing Kieran Dowell either, with the midfielder also learning all about Rangers from passionate bluenoses Kenny McLean and Billy Gilmour from his time at Carrow Road.

“When I first got in contact with the manager, I was straight on the phone to Todd,” said Dowell.

“I was asking him how he’s found it so far and he was raving about it. He said it’s something different but it’s something that he’s really enjoyed. Just like the manager, Todd really sold it to me as well.

“I’ve known a few Rangers fans from other clubs so they’re always talking about it. I was knocking around with Kenny McLean and Billy Gilmour so you pick things up.

“It means a lot to me. When I first met the manager, he told me it was a new challenge and he really sold it to me – so I’m really excited. The intensity up here will be unlike anything I’ve seen in the English Championship and that’s a big reason why I wanted to come.”
