Ange Postecoglou admits he 'isn't comfortable' with Spurs fans singing his name

ROMANO CONFIRMS SPURS WON’T BE SIGNING STRIKER COMPARED TO AGUERO

Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Metz striker Georges Mikautadze but he is on the verge of joining Ajax instead.

Ajax are poised to snap up Metz hitman Georges Mikautadaze with Tottenham Hotspur poised to miss out.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Mikautadaze is in Amsterdam right now.

Romano gave the move his usual ‘here we go’, stating that the deal is completely done on both the player and the club side.

Mikautadze should be announced as a new Ajax player either tonight or tomorrow with the Dutch giants moving quickly for a new attacking signing.

Mohammed Kudus was sold to West Ham United on Sunday with MIkautadze now arriving as a replacement.

Mikautadze isn’t quite as versatile as Kudus but he can make a real impact in the final third.

The Georgia international has done enough to land himself a move to Ajax, and that means Tottenham have missed out.

Tottenham are chasing attacking signings in the final days of the summer window.

Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson is the top target but Mikautadze appears to have been a target too.

Voetbal International report that Tottenham joined Rennes and Lyon in trying to convince Mikautadze to join them.

However, Mikautadze said no as he had his sights set on joining Ajax instead.

The deal is now close with a fixed amount of around €16million (£13.75million) and Ajax could yet pay more in add-on too.

The Daily Mail add that Tottenham watched Metz beat Clermont Foot on Sunday with Mikautadze scoring the winner.

Maybe Spurs hoped to convince Mikautadze before the deadline but he is now on the verge of joining Ajax.

Mikautadze’s style of play has been compared to that of Sergio Aguero and he dazzled last season with 24 goals in 40 games last season.

Tottenham may keep tabs on Mikautadze’s progress with Ajax for a potential future move but for now, they have to forget about him.
