Miami Dolphins: Defensive End Announces Retirement Days After Surprise Release (BREAKING)

A defensive end who was with the Miami Dolphins this season announced their intention to retire Thursday evening, per multiple reports.

Chase Winovich, a former third-round pick by the New England Patriots, was released and given an injury settlement by the Dolphins last week from the team’s practice squad.

Per a statement on Winovich’s Instagram account, the former Michigan Wolverines standout announced his retirement from the NFL.

Winovich earned two first-team All-Big-Ten honors at Michigan. He also was named a third-team All-American for the 2018 season.

The 28-year-old started in 11 games and played in 56 total in his five-year NFL career. He recorded 107 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks during that span.

Winovich appeared in three games for the Dolphins this season. He recorded two total tackles in 2023.
