Blackburn Rovers confirm Leopold Wahlstedt signing as contract length revealed
Rovers have signed the Sweden international for an undisclosed fee
Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of goalkeeper Leopold Wahlstedt.
Rovers have needed reinforcements in that department since the departure of Thomas Kaminski to Premier League newcomers Luton Town. Wahlstedt has now filled that void.
The 24-year-old had been at Norwegian side Odds Ballklubb. He had been close to moving to Danish outfit Brondby, but the shot-stopper decided against this transfer.
That has helped to pave the way for a move to Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side and he has now completed a switch to Ewood Park. He has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Rovers after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the two clubs.

The new signing is a fully-fledged Sweden international, having made his debut earlier this year against Finland. Wahlstedt is set to battle it out with Aynsley Pears for the number one spot at Rovers and will be available for selection once international clearance and visa requirements have been sorted.
Rovers’ director of football, Gregg Broughton, said: “We are delighted to welcome Leo to Blackburn Rovers
“We have monitored his progress over the past 12 months and, in addition to his excellent shot-stopping, Leo’s ability to play out from the back is at a very high level.
“Succession planning is a straightforward exercise in theory, but in real life is reliant upon timing factors that are often out of your control.
“We are grateful that, following Thomas Kaminski’s departure, we were able to put our plan into place and sign a goalkeeper with such high potential.”
