Burnley forward ‘closing in’ on Championship loan move as manager excited
He joined the club last summer from MK Dons
Hull City are closing in on the loan capture of Burnley attacker Scott Twine, according to reports.
Our colleagues at Hull Live report that the Tigers are expected to have Twine in the building this week, with a view to signing him on a season-long loan deal. Burnley are said to have been in ‘extensive talks’ with the Clarets, with a deal now close to completion ahead of next weekend’s round of Championship fixtures.
Hull’s interest in Twine dates back to last summer, when Burnley won the race for his signature from MK Dons for a fee in the region of £4million. Twine encountered some injury problems in Vincent Kompany’s first season as Clarets chief, as he finished the campaign with three goals in 18 appearance
Burnley have lost last season’s loan star Nathan Tella, along with experienced centre-forward Ashley Barnes. But, Kompany has bolstered his attack with the signings of Zeki Amdouni, Wilson Odobert, Luca Koleosho, Nathan Redmond and Jacob Bruun Larsen. In addition to those arrivals, the Clarets are close to bringing in Aaron Ramsey from Aston Villa.
Twine was not in the match night squad for Burnley’s opening Premier League fixture against Manchester City. Hull boss Liam Rosenior is looking for a strong finish to the transfer window and is confident of getting deals over the line. The Tigers are said to want five more recruits before September 1, having already signed Liam Delap, Jason Lokilo, Xavier Simons, Ruben Vinagre and Aaron Connolly
“I am telling you now, there is going to be some exciting news coming in the next few days,” said Rosenior “I can say that with a lot of certainty now, which is why I’m smiling. And it’s going to change the whole energy and mood of this club. I’m excited for what we’ve done. I can see it because of the talks I’ve been having and the calls I’ve been getting. The plans are starting to fall into place and people will start to say: ‘ok, now it makes sense’ – which I’ve been saying all along anyway.”
