Journalist: Nottingham Forest are set to sign ‘incredible’ £8m-rated player
Nottingham Forest are edging closer to the signing of Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Reds have fought off competition from Everton and Fulham to land the winger.
According to top transfer journalist Rudy Galetti, a done deal is close to completion. The Reds are set to pay around £8 million to land the forward who is keen to leave Chelsea.
Hudson-Odoi has lost his way a little bit in recent years. He suffered a nasty Achilles injury and that has seen him suffer a bit of a setback in his development in recent years.
The 22-year-old still has bags of potential though. He’s made 126 appearances for the Blues, scoring 16 goals and claiming 22 assists during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Last season he spent time on loan with Bayer Leverkusen. The winger struggled for game time under Xabi Alonso and he made just 21 appearances, registering two goal contributions.
Forest have been interested in the player for a little while. Steve Cooper is clearly instigating this move given that he managed the forward as England won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.
Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard have praised Hudson-Odoi previously. The latter called him ‘incredible’ when he was in charge of the talented youngster at Chelsea.
Forest set to sign Hudson-Odoi
This would be quite a signing. The jury might stay out for a little while given that the Reds fan base would have to see some proof that he’s over the worst of his injury problems.
The Reds are now set to get themselves a bit of a coup. He was fantastic for Chelsea when he first burst onto the scene and the Blues will perhaps regret not cashing in on him years ago.
Bayern Munich were willing to pay big money for his signature at one point. The player was in such scintillating form that he was proving to be one of the hottest properties in Europe.
Now, Forest look to be edging closer to getting their man. Hudson-Odoi has apparently agreed to personal terms over a move to Forest and he will join Andrey Santos in signing from Chelsea this summer.
