While Declan Rice is on the verge of joining Arsenal, one of Mikel Arteta’s key men could be on his way to West Ham.

Rice is set to have his Gunners medical ahead of a British record £105m move within the next 72 hours.

West Ham’s players returned to pre-season training today but Rice will have already said his goodbyes as he joins London rivals Arsenal.

Rice is not the only person who won’t be returning to West Ham for pre-seaso

Arsenal confirm departure of key man Steve Round and he’s surely heading straight for reunion with David Moyes at West Ham

It was announced on Thursday that David Moyes’ assistant coach Paul Nevin is following fellow Hammers assistant Mark Warburton out of the West Ham exit door this summer.

West Ham said Nevin has left by mutual consent. And a report has now lifted the lid on the highly-rated coach’s next destination.

It leaves a big hole to fill in Moyes’ staff.

And it could be filled with a departing Gunner.

Round hole to fill?

Because Arsenal have confirmed the departure of key man Steve Round and he’s surely heading straight for a reunion with Moyes at West Ham.

Arsenal chief Edu has revealed Round will depart the Emirates by mutual consent.

And having worked with Moyes as his assistant at both Everton and Manchester United, one would think the duo look set for a reunion at West Ham.

A statement from Edu, as reported by CBS correspondent James Benge, has confirmed Round’s exit.

“As preparations for the new men’s season get underway we can confirm Steve Round has left the club by mutual agreement,” Edu said.

“Steve joined the club as part of our new coaching staff in December 2019 when Mikel started his role as head coach.

“During his time with us, Steve played an integral role working with our men’s first team players and helping the significant progress which we have made. We thank Steve for his contribution to Arsenal Football Club and wish him and his family all the best of health and happiness.”

It could be a case of two plus two making five of course.

But with two vacancies to fill on the West Ham staff, Round’s availability and his previous stints working with Moyes over a six-year period – the departing Arsenal coach will surely be speaking to the Hammers.
