Aaron Ramsey to Burnley transfer latest as Aston Villa details emerge
Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive with Aaron Ramsey to Burnley delay explained
Aaron Ramsey is expected to sign a new deal with Aston Villa next week before then completing a move to Burnley.
The young midfielder will join the Clarets for £12m – but crucially the deal will include a buy back clause. The new details come from Sun transfer expert Alan Nixon.
He claims there has been a hold-up in the predicted move because Villa have offered the 20-year-old a new deal in case he returns to Villa Park. According to Nixon, Villa will want Ramsey back in “two years or more”.
Ramsey impressed on loan in the Championship last season and could now get a chance in the Premier League. He is expected to sign the new contract at Villa on Monday. The midfielder was a guest at Turf Moor on Friday night when Vincent Kompany’s promoted team lost 3-0 to champions Manchester City.
Nixon adds that the “whole set-up” for Ramsey’s move is the idea of Villa transfer guru Monchi. The player came up through the youth ranks at Villa alongside his older brother, Jacob, who is a regular in the first team.
Ramsey made one first team appearance when he came on as a substitute in the 6-0 Carabao Cup win over Barrow in August 2021. He then spent the first half of last season on loan at Norwich City, where he was coached by former manager Dean Smith before joining Middlesbrough, who he helped reach the play-offs semi-finals.
