Reporter claims Brazilian midfielder ‘is going’ to join Wolves in January

Wolves have long been linked with a move for Palmeiras midfielder Raphael Veiga.

Goal had reported back in March that Wolves were joined by Arsenal, Chelsea and Fulham in being interested.

Palmeiras are believed to have ignored said interest however in the summer as they didn’t want to sell.

The midfielder had also been linked to Barcelona in the summer according to Sport who explained the La Liga holders were considering a move.

Wolves are believed to have retained their long-standing interest however, with the Premier League looking likely to be Veiga’s next move.

Veiga set to join Wolves in January

Brazilian presenter Neto, who is a former Palmeiras player has made the claim that Veiga will be a Wolves player in January.

Speaking to O TV Foco as reported by TeamTalk , Neto said: “Raphael Veiga will say goodbye to Palmeiras next year. He is going to Wolverhampton, and the transfer will be completed next year. If this doesn’t happen, Palmeiras can criticise me at will.

“And to replace Veiga, Palmeiras have their eyes on a new midfielder, Pedrinho, currently at Atlético-MG.

“So, the situation is as follows: Palmeiras is about to sign Pedrinho for €15m, offering €10m plus Kevin. Therefore, at the end of the year, Veiga will go to England.”

Wolves will have more money available

In January, Wolves will be in a far better situation to complete the deal than they were in the summer.

The sale of Matheus Nunes provided much needed funds to the transfer kitty.

The West Midlands side had the third lowest net spend in the league during the window, as they made nearly £40 million profit through the window.

The signing would bolster their midfield immeasurably and could be a key signing in the second half of the season.
