Nottingham Forest transfer news: Romano says Reds fancy Leicester star, personal terms now agreed
Nottingham Forest are now seriously considering the signing of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. The player is thought to have already agreed on personal terms with Forest and negotiations will start with the Foxes.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are hopeful of agreeing on a deal with the talented midfielder before the deadline on Friday. Forest are going to push ahead with a deal after being left frustrated in their attempt to sign other defensive midfielders.
Ndidi has struggled with injury problems in the past but he is now back to full fitness. The 26-year-old has been with Leicester since 2017 when he joined in the January transfer window from Belgian outfit Genk.
The defensive midfielder has played in all four of Leicester’s games in the Championship this season. He also scored as Leicester defeated Burton Albion in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
In total, Ndidi has made 242 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 12 goals and claiming 12 assists for the club. He’s also been capped 51 times by Nigeria and has played alongside Taiwo Awoniyi previously.
Forest now seriously considering Ndidi from Leicester
The player could be a useful addition to the Forest ranks. Brendan Rodgers was a big fan of the player when he was in place at the King Power Stadium, calling him ‘incredible’ back in 2019.
Admittedly, the player’s injury issues in the past might be a bit of a concern. However, he has been fit this season and it would appear that Forest aren’t going to be put off.
At this stage, it’s not clear how much the Reds would have to pay for his signature. Leicester are unlikely to budge on what they value him at though and that could be around £20 million.
Rumour rating: 6/10 – Nothing against Ndidi but this would represent a bit of a comedown from Ibrahim Sangare or Florentino Luis.
However, the difference is perhaps the level of realism. Clearly, Forest feel that Ndidi is someone who can do a job and if the price is right, perhaps he can prove useful.
