BREAKING: Pittsburgh Steelers Sign Two-Time Super Bowl Champion to Practice Squad – Week 11

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made some roster moves in the wake of a 13-10 loss against the Cleveland Browns in Week 11. Per Tom Elissero of the NFL Network, the Steelers have added safety Eric Rowe to the practice squad.

Rowe started the season with the Carolina Panthers but never played in a game before his release. The Steelers moved fellow safety Elijah Riley to the injured reserve (IR) on Monday.

Rowe, a second-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft, registered six tackles with the Carolina Panthers in the preseason but never tallied a regular-season snap. He played for the Miami Dolphins from 2019-2022, posting 299 tackles, three interceptions, six forced fumbles, and two sacks. Rowe played for the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie in 2015, but they traded him to the New England Patriots for a conditional fourth-round pick. The Utah product won two championships with the Pats but never eclipsed 20 tackles in a season. However, he intercepted then-Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger in the 2016 playoffs.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Safety Room Getting Tested

The Steelers start Minkah Fitzpatrick and Damontae Kazee at the safety positions. However, Fitzpatrick has yet to play in November. Meanwhile, his backup, Elijah Riley, will head to the IR with an ankle injury.

Miles Killebrew could start at strong safety if Fitzpatrick remains unavailable, but he has only three tackles on the season.  The Pittsburgh Steelers could turn to the newly signed Eric Rowe as early as Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
