Sources: Promising Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene heading to Hull despite Ipswich links
Hull City are set to seal the signing of Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene before Friday’s transfer deadline, TEAMtalk understands.
The Tigers have agreed a deal in principle with Villa for Philogene and talks are understood to be at an advanced stage with the player.
Ipswich Town were also keen on signing Philogene, but Hull are confident they have managed to beat their Championship rivals to the skilful attacker.
Philogene was a regular feature for Villa during their pre-season campaign and played in all three games during their tour of the USA.
The 21-year-old made an appearance off the bench in the Premier League opening day defeat to Newcastle United, but Villa feel they are well-stocked for attackers to let Philogene move on.
Villa are set to include a buy-back clause plus a sell-on clause to be inserted into Philogene’s deal, similar to what they did when selling Aaron Ramsey to Burnley earlier this month.
Unai Emery’s men are back in action on Thursday night when they take on Hibernian in the home leg of their Europa Conference League play-off tie, leading 5-0 from the first tie in Scotland.
