Former Leicester City star causing frustration after summer transfer switch
Aston Villa snapped up Youri Tielemans in the summer on a free transfer from relegated Leicester City
It’s fair to say that things haven’t gone swimmingly for Youri Tielemans since he moved to Aston Villa on a free transfer at the end of last season. There is even speculation that the Premier League club will look to move him on at the first available opportunity, no doubt rumours to be taken with a big pinch of salt.
Tielemans has struggled to get consistent game time under Unai Emery so far. He has even had words with the manager about that. But is is still early days in Tielemans’ Villa career, and he undoubtedly has the quality to succeed there, having impressed on several occasions during his time with Leicester City. But it certainly hasn’t been an easy start for the 26-year-old in Birmingham.
Nonetheless, there are signs that the Belgian is starting to settle, and indeed there have been some stats graphics doing the social media rounds that have shown just how much effort he is putting into to making his switch to Villa Park a success.

A recent interview on Villa podcast Claret & Blue gave an honest interpretation of how the former City man is doing. One of the hosts, Mat Kendrick, delivered his verdict after Villa earned their first points of their Europa Conference League campaign with a last-minute winner over Zrinjski Mostar to put all four sides on three points in Group E.
