Analyst Says Chiefs Should Give More Attention To 1 WR

It’s no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs offense relies heavily on Travis Kelce.

Kelce has not only been one of the league’s top tight ends over the past decade but also one of the most prolific offensive pieces.

However, because of his consistent dominance, teams have tried to do everything possible to shut him down lately.

This increased attention has resulted in two straight games with less than 60 yards, a rarity for Kelce.

If the Chiefs want Kelce to have more opportunities in games, they will have to start relying on somebody else for offensive production.

In a recent segment of the NFL on ESPN, Andrew Hawkins gave his reasoning for Rashee Rice to be in that role.

“He’s been good in the middle of the field, and he has a 78% catch rate,” Hawkins said.

That reception rate is one of the highest in the league, as Hawkins points out.

Rice might be a rookie, but if the Chiefs don’t start turning to their receivers for more production, Kelce will likely continue to be stifled.

This was demonstrated when Tyreek Hill was on the roster.

He was a deep threat, daring defenses to leave him open to break through for a massive gain.

Added coverage of Hill forced defenses to pay less attention to Kelce, resulting in bigger production for him.

The same could be true of Rice if Patrick Mahomes believes in him every week.

He has shown that he can catch the passes that are thrown to him, and with more opportunity, Rice could provide an integral role on this team.
