WARNE ‘REALLY PLEASED’ WITH LINCOLN WIN, EFL TROPHY POST-MATCH VERDICT

Paul Warne, the head coach of Derby County, was “really pleased” with his team’s performance in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Lincoln City.

Tom Barkhuizen and Louie Sibley’s goals in the second half were enough to secure the victory and guarantee the Rams the best possible start to their EFL Trophy campaign.

Warne evaluated the performance in a post-game interview with RamsTV.

Regarding the game, I’m incredibly happy.

We want to win as many games as we can and establish winning as a trend.

It’s good to have some of the players returning, and I believe we represented our goals as a team a little better.

We had a few players who weren’t playing as well, so we changed the lineup and gave others a chance to play, but our main goal was to win the game.

In general, I thought the guys played pretty well and beat a well-organized Lincoln team with two terrific goals.

Our overall performance was excellent, and keeping the score clean is always pleasant. A productive workday.

On what most pleased him…
I thought parts of the play was pretty strong, and Kane was arguably our best player.

We may not have been as proficient or spectacular in the final third, but that’s always the hardest thing to achieve in a game. I appreciate how our midfield three attacked them.

I believed that we felt secure in our ownership.

In general, everyone participated, and tonight’s professional debut for Ben Radcliffe was nice.

As for the objectives’ quality…

Even while I adore crosses, I believe that occasionally we might become a little fixated on them.

It was fantastic for us to score both goals without using crosses.

Tom had a strong performance up to his goal. Next week, when he returns, Birdy ought to be exercising with us. Conor Hourihane has only been on the team for a few weeks, but already the roster and team are starting to reflect our goals more clearly.

Regarding Tyreece John-Jules…
Unfortunately, he will be absent for 3–4 weeks due to a recurrence of an injury.

Regarding Ryan Nyambe…
He’s a player I’ve been interested in for a few summers because he has spent the majority of his career playing in the Championship. He is extremely agile, combative, and a strong defender.

The unfortunate injury to Rooney seemed to be the ideal match.

On Thursday, he will join the group, and hopefully, he will participate this weekend.
