However, Blackburn face competition for Scherhant’s signature, with Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End also looking to complete a loan deal.

Premier League side Burnley have also shown interest in the young centre-forward and enquired about his availability earlier this window.

Scherhant has already scored three goals and assisted once in two games for Hertha’a second team this season.

He broke into Hertha Berlin’s senior squad last season, making 10 appearances in the Bundesliga.

Scherhant scored his first senior goal for the German club in February in a 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach after he was summoned off the bench for an 18-minute cameo.

His youth record is impressive, having scored 27 goals and registered 11 assists in 48 appearances for Hertha’s reserve side.

Blackburn are in desperate need of additional firepower after losing the prolific duo of Bradley Dack and Ben Brereton Diaz this summer.

Academy product Harry Leonard has been named in the starting lineup in all three of Blackburn’s Championship matches so far, but Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson is looking to add more depth to his squad.

Rovers currently sit 12th in the Championship after a fairly balanced start to their 2023/24 campaign, which resumes on Sunday (27 August) with a trip to Watford’s Vicarage Road.
