Ange Postecoglou: Celtic manager looking forward to less chaotic ...

Sources: Rodrigo Bentancur closing in on Tottenham return

Rodrigo Bentancur is closing in on a return for Tottenham and could be back by the middle of November, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder, 26, is in the final stage of his recovery from a torn ACL and is about a month away from what is a much-anticipated comeback.

Bentancur has been out of action since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, a horrific injury which can keep players sidelined for anywhere between nine months and a year.

Bentancur was pictured back doing light work on the grass last month and manager Ange Postecoglou said the Uruguay international was “buzzing” to be back around the training ground.

Football Insider revealed in February the extent of the injury suffered by the midfielder, which was expected to sideline him for at least six months and probably a lot longer.

That has proved to be the case, although the former Juventus star has been making solid progress on the comeback trail and the prospect of a return is now much closer.

Bentancur had been making a big impact on the Spurs side before his injury after joining from Juventus in January 2022.

He made 26 appearances under Antonio Conte last season before the injury and netted six goals, offering up two assists in those outings.

Bentancur is yet to feature for new manager Postecoglou, who has made a huge impact since taking over in the summer.

Tottenham are currently joint top of the Premier League table, alongside Arsenal, and are unbeaten in their opening eight league matches, having already faced Liverpool, the Gunners and Man United.
