Sources: Tottenham ready to smash record to complete signing of Harry Kane replacement

Tottenham are ready to smash their transfer record to land a top-tier Harry Kane replacement this month, sources have told Football Insider.

Kane has finalised his sensational move to Bayern Munich for a fee of up to £100million.

He leaves Spurs having scored 280 goals for the club – including 30 in last season’s Premier League campaign.

Spurs are planning to go into overdrive to secure an A-list replacement for their talisman and outstanding player.

The Londoners are prepared to smash their club-record outlay, the £54million-plus paid for Tanguy Ndombele, on a new striker before the window shuts.

Tottenham had offered Kane a new contract which would not have only improved his current £200,000-per-week wages but also make him one of the Premier League’s top earners.

It is believed Kane wanted an astonishing £600,000-a-week to complete a move from the club where he has spent his entire career.

The Lilywhites are now tasked with replacing their greatest-ever goalscorer with just three weeks left of the summer window.

Richarlison is the prime candidate to take on a number nine role for now, but managed just three strikes in 35 games across all competitions after joining from Everton last summer (2022).

Heung-min Son also struggled in the 2022-23 campaign, scoring just 10 league goals after winning the competition’s Golden Boot in the previous campaign.

Spurs start the new season under Ange Postecoglou with an away clash at Brentford on Sunday (13 August).
