Atlanta Falcons sign veteran kicker
Falcons have signed Younghoe Koo.
The Atlanta Falcons could be without starting kicker Younghoe Koo this week as he missed practice once again on Wednesday, and it sounds like the team is making some contingency plans in case Koo is unable to play in this week’s game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon.
According to a report from Atlanta Falcons beat writer Josh Kendall of The Athletic, the Falcons are signing veteran kicker Matthew Wright to their practice squad with the status of Koo unknown for this week’s upcoming game.
“The Falcons have signed PK Matthew Wright to the practice after Younghoe Koo missed Wednesday’s practice due to a back issue. Wright has made 40-of-46 FGs in 23 career games,” Kendall said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Sunday’s game against the Saints will be a pivotal one for the Falcons as the Saints currently lead the division with a record of 5-5 with the Falcons just behind with a 4-6 record. With a win over the Saints on Sunday, the Falcons could vault themselves into a first-place tie with New Orleans in the NFC South division.
Obviously, if this is going to happen, it would help to have a reliable kicker.
