Charlton Athletic defender set to be out for weeks – not months – after injury setback

Charlton Athletic head coach Michael Appleton has confirmed that Tayo Edun faces a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

The former Fulham, Blackburn and Lincoln player missed today’s 3-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers and was replaced at left-back by Terell Thomas.

Appleton said: “It was a strange one because he finished the session on Thursday and just felt a little bit of discomfort.

“We didn’t know at that point if he would be okay or he’d be out. We got him scanned early Friday morning and it revealed a bit of a tear in the tendon, not the actual muscle.

“He could be three or four weeks but he came in again today and it’s not something that is really bothering him. But if he really opens up and isn’t careful it is one of those where you are out for three months because you’ve got a complete tear.”
