Steelers Have Activated Key Defender For Thursday

It has been an up-and-down 2023 NFL season thus far for the Pittsburgh Steelers, with Kenny Pickett and company dealing with their fair share of struggles on both sides of the football, but the storied franchise has been able to stay competitive, sporting a 4-3 record while being in second place in the AFC North division standings.

One of the main reasons for the roller-coaster ride this season for the Steelers has been injuries, as some of the team’s best players have missed time throughout the 2023 campaign thus far.

Along with Pickett, Pat Freiermuth, and Minkah Fitzpatrick dealing with injuries recently, the Steelers were finally able to get some good news in that department, with star defensive tackle Cam Heyward finally activated from the injured reserve, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Steelers lost Heyward early in the season, as he went down with a groin injury during the Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, which obviously isn’t a great start to the year for a team that relies heavily on its defense.

Fortunately, the four-time All-Pro will make his return to the field in time to take on the Tennessee Titans on a short week and help contain rookie quarterback Will Levis, who had an incredible debut last week, throwing four touchdowns in the win against the Atlanta Falcons.

This game will be important for both teams, who are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive while hovering near or above .500 heading into this game in Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium, with the Steelers being the slight favorite.
