After missiles were hurled against Tranmere Rovers, a Crawley Town safety official sent a warning to the supporters, calling it “frankly an embarrassment”
After ‘troubling incidents’ occurred during the 3-2 victory over Tranmere Rovers on Saturday at the Broadfield Stadium, Crawley Town’s safety officer has issued a warning to the supporters.

After the Reds’ equalizer in the 61st minute, the club issued an apology to Tranmere Rovers and their goalkeeper Luke McGee for the missiles that were thrown at him. Town stated the incident may have resulted in the game being abandoned and said anyone found to have thrown a missile would be permanently banned from the ground. The team might now be subject to a fine, a point deduction, or even a stadium shutdown, they claimed.

According to their statement, the potential of the game being called off at 1-1 was quite real due to the behavior of these fans. This situation was only averted thanks to the club security team’s quick action. Players and staff from the first team have also voiced their discontent.

Chris Baker, the club’s safety officer, also put a message denouncing the behavior on the website.

“Had the referee not been pleased with my team’s response, he could have called off the game, which would have resulted in a forfeit, a fine, and the closure of the South Stand for a number of games. After the game, he assured me that he was contemplating this option for the players’ safety.

“These pyrotechnics are fireworks, and they have been shown to include substances that can lead to cancer and lung problems. They burn at temperatures ranging from 2000 to 4000 degrees. After the game, the burned-out gadgets were carried to the Control Room, where they were still hot 20 minutes later.

Flares have a history of bursting, and you can easily discover videos of these explosions on YouTube or by performing a quick Google search, so those who light them run the danger of hurting not just themselves but also those nearby, many of whom are children. Concerningly, it has been claimed that some youths who use flares give them to young children so they can bring them into the stadium because kids are not searched. This is quite reckless.
