Cowboys looking likely to be without key special teamer vs. Giants
While KaVontae Turpin is going to try to suit up for the Cowboys in Week 10, it is looking unlikely that he will be able to do so
The Dallas Cowboys have a divisional matchup against the New York Giants in Week 10, and while they are largely expected to be able to coast to victory in this one, there are no guarantees in the NFL. That’s why the latest injury update on star return man KaVontae Turpin is not going to be something that the Cowboys and their fans want to see.
Turpin has emerged as one of the best return men in the NFL, and while he hasn’t had many opportunities to rip off big kick or punt returns this season, he’s amassed three offensive touchdowns this year as a gadget player for the Cowboys. However, Turpin has been dealing with a bothersome shoulder injury for weeks now, and it sounds like it may finally cause him to miss game action against the Giants in Week 10.
Via Ian Rapoport:
“DAL WR KaVontae Turpin (shoulder) did not practice at all this week and is listed as questionable. While it’s unlikely he plays today, the team will evaluate him pre-game to see.”
The Cowboys would miss KaVontae Turpin against the Giants
Turpin’s explosive playmaking abilities have been a big help for the Cowboys in several ways since he landed with them, so being without him would be a big loss. Against the Giants, it shouldn’t matter too much, but the Cowboys would have roles that need to be filled on both special teams and offense without him.
Turpin is still going to give it a go and try to find his way onto the field for this one, but it looks like the expectation is that he will be forced to miss his first game of the season. Again, the Cowboys should be able to get by the Giants without Turpin on the field, and if they can have him healthy for bigger games, that may be in the best interest of the team.
