Gillingham keen on manager who left Charlton Athletic in August along with Bradford City
Gillingham are interested in Dean Holden following his exit from Charlton Athletic in late August, reports Alan Nixon.
Gillingham are interested in the 44-year-old along with fellow League Two side Bradford City. The Kent club are in the hunt for a new manager after parting company with Neil Harris.
Holden, who is from Manchester, cut ties with Charlton after one win in their opening six games in League One. He is now weighing up his next move in the game.
In this latest update regarding his situation, reporter Nixon has claimed on his Patreon page that the Gills are keen on him. They currently have Keith Millen in interim charge until a permanent boss is found.
Gillingham managerial latest
Gillingham have a big decision to make as to who to bring in as their next manager. They are currently sat in 7th place in the fourth tier table and are inside the play-offs by a point ahead of Morecambe.
Holden has a point to prove after his spell at Charlton came to an end and will need to consider whether he wants to drop down a league.
He spent this playing days with the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town as a full-back. He then hung up his boots in 2014 and delved into the coaching world.
As well as Charlton, he has managed Oldham and Bristol City in the past. He also had a stint as caretaker boss at Stoke City having previously been their number two.
The Addicks turned to him in December 2022 and he won 37.5% of matches in charge at The Valley before his exit.
Gillingham and Bradford are being linked now and could offer him a route back into management.
