Green Bay Packers: Christian Watson Injury Doesn’t Appear to Be Long-Term
The Green Bay Packers are dealing with another injury problem for wide receiver Christian Watson. Watson left the game against the Los Angeles Rams with a chest injury and a back injury and was evaluated with a possible concussion in a 20-3 win at home.
He has been dealing with bad luck of injuries during his second season in the NFL. Watson only caught one pass for 37 yards receiving before leaving the game. On the year, he has caught 12 passes for 213 yards receiving and one touchdown this season and has averaged 17.8 yards per catch in five games played.
Green Bay improved to 3-5 on the year, and Los Angeles dropped to 3-6 on the year. Head coach Matt LaFleur told the media after the game about Christian Watson potentially having a concussion:
“We feel good that he’s not concussed. I think he landed on the ball, and we’re going through everything.”
It is very good news that he may not have a concussion, but that is something that will be monitored throughout the week, along with his other injuries. His status for Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3) on the road will be questioned throughout the week.
Christian Watson Potentially Being Sidelined For the Green Bay Packers Is Nothing New
It is nothing new that Watson is facing more injury problems again. His second year has been the definition of a sophomore slump. If his slump continues, there will be many questions about him going into year three next season for the Packers. Rookies Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed will be ready to step up at the receiver position again.
As for Romeo Doubs, he would go back to being Jordan Love’s number-one wide receiver. That is not a bad thing for this offense moving forward, along with the emergence of rookie tight end Luke Musgrave. Watson must be more effective moving forward if his body doesn’t betray him.
