Hull City boss gives glowing review of summer recruit as player waits for Championship chance
Summer signing Jason Lokilo has started just once in the opening eight Championship games
Jason Lokilo was perhaps one of Hull City’s more low-key summer signings after moving from Sparta Rotterdam following a hugely impressive spell in the Turkish Super Lig.
The 25-year-old is yet to start a game in the Championship for the Tigers since the 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday on August 12 when he played 85 minutes of that resounding win over the Owls.
Since then, Lokilo has been restricted to appearances off the bench in the league, but those cameo displays have been encouraging, and hugely important, particularly the two 15-minute outings at Leicester City and then at home to Coventry which saw City claim four points. The Congo international then had to settle for much less in the draw with Leeds and win at Stoke, but his contribution has been felt, says the Tigers boss.

Rosenior says Lokilo continues to go about his work in a professional manner as he faces up to a battle with Jaden Philogene for a start on the flank amid some pretty tough competition for places within the City dressing room.
“He’s working so hard in the gym because there’s a real awareness – he had an experience in England before, he’s gone away and ended up in Turkiye, he’s come back, he knows the levels, the physical levels of the Championship is so different to everywhere else.
“He’s building muscle, he’s put on a lot of weight – it’s all muscle and it’s not fat because he knows he needs to be more robust for this league, and it’s shown in his performances. He’s been powerful, and dynamic and I know he’s got technical quality. Everyone’s delighted that he’s come here and can see why we’ve signed him.”
