Ipswich Town game a clash of titans which Hull City should embrace head-on
The in-form Tigers face the Tractor Boys at Portman Road under the lights on Tuesday evening
Hull City will make the long journey to Suffolk on Monday afternoon ready to take on an Ipswich Town side loving life back in the Championship under Kieran McKenna, sitting two points off the top spot after nine games.
After a nightmare spell in League One, McKenna guided the Tractor Boys to automatic promotion last season and that momentum has continued into the early weeks of this season.
For Hull City, it’s another opportunity to go away from home and extend their winning run on the road to four games which would be no mean feat, and take points off a rival, one that currently stands six points above them.

Having gone to Leicester City and won already this season, along with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, there will be little to concern the Tigers about playing away, something they relish, particularly on the back of a fourth consecutive draw at the MKM Stadium on Saturday against Plymo
Away from home, as Jean Michael Seri explained before Saturday’s game with the Pilgrims, City operate with a calmness and authority they perhaps don’t always have at home, and in many ways, their setup is perfectly suited to performing on the road, particularly their ability to grind down the opposition and frustrate the home crowd.
Three years ago when the pair were battling for promotion from League One, City went to Portman Road and destroyed Town 3-0 in a result few would have predicted given their close proximity at the top of the table, their sixth consecutive win at Portman Road.
A similar result and performance this time around would be just the ticket for Rosenior’s Tigers, and set them up perfectly for Saturday’s trip to Millwall, their final outing before the international break, and given how they’re playing on the road, you wouldn’t rule it out.
