Hull City’s early term school report as Liam Rosenior and his players assessed
The Championship is currently on its early October hiatus
Hull City’s Championship campaign has again come to a halt as the Championship takes a break for the international fixtures to take precedence.
Saturday’s thrilling 2-2 draw at Millwall ensured the Tigers, managed by Liam Rosenior, would go into the break sitting in ninth place in a typically congested Championship table and just a point outside the top six.
Prior to City’s loss at Ipswich, the Tigers had found themselves nestled nicely inside the play-off positions at this early stage of the season, a cause aided by three successive away wins at Blackburn, Leicester and Stoke City.

Upon their return to action, the Tigers play five more games before the final international break of the calendar year with home games against Southampton, Preston and Huddersfield to come, along with two away trips to the West Midlands in Birmingham City and West Brom.

Report: Rosenior’s side started the season with a hugely controversial defeat at Norwich City on the opening day which the Tigers beaten 2-1 with a 97th minute goal. In the aftermath, Rosenior was sent off and the Tigers were left furious with Keith Stroud’s somewhat questionable decision to award the goal. Then followed a calamitous home loss to Grant McCann and Doncaster Rovers in the first round of the Carabao Cup which saw the players booed off at the MKM Stadium. Rosenior and his players responded brilliantly, thrashing a hapless Sheffield Wednesday side and then going on an eight-game unbeaten run which included three back-to-back away wins, including that impressive success at Leicester.
Four home draws on the spin has left fans a little frustrated, though many including Adama Traore are still having nightmares about his open goal miss against Leeds United with the score at 0-0 in the dying embers of that particular Yorkshire derby. While City were soundly beaten at Ipswich Town, their response at Millwall was hugely encouraging and should have seen them return to East Yorkshire with three points in their back pocket.
