Alasdair Gold says Spurs have a top 21-year-old who’s ‘gone under the radar’

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has earned praise from Alasdair Gold.

Speaking on the Gold & Guest podcast, the journalist believes the 21-year-old Spurs gem is a “ridiculous” talent.

Gold also reckons Sarr has “gone under the radar” somewhat, and may well be getting higher praise if he was at a “slightly more heralded” club.

Sarr has been making waves at Tottenham, becoming a regular starter and looking a cut above in the Premier League at just 21 years of age.

To date, the Senegal international has made 25 competitive appearances for Spurs, and has also won 14 international caps.

“He’s just 21, that’s what I just find so ridiculous about him as well,” said Gold.

“And I do wonder, if he was playing for a [Manchester] City, Arsenal, even maybe Man United, just one of these clubs that are slightly more heralded than Spurs are right now

“Or even let’s say a Brighton because of the talent they’ve produced, do you think everyone would be raving about him?

“I kind of think they would. He’s almost gone under the radar at Spurs.”

Many Spurs fans probably won’t care too much that Sarr isn’t getting the recognition he deserves from neutrals.

In fact, it could even be a good thing. That sort of thing ends up leading to transfer speculation, and Tottenham fans won’t want to see their top talents being linked away.

For instance, Son Heung-min has barely been the subject of transfer speculation throughout his whole time at Tottenham.

While it’s a shame to some degree, you won’t find many Spurs fans complaining that they haven’t had to put up with constant transfer talk about him.

Sarr is clearly getting the recognition he deserves from Spurs fans, who absolutely adore him for his talent, attitude and potential.

If he – and everyone else at Tottenham – keeps under the radar, they could go on to achieve great success this season and beyond with little outside noise.
