Chicago Bears, Justin Fields

the Chicago Bears receive fantastic news according to Ian Rapoport

We are still waiting on the actual timeline regarding Justin Fields’ hand injury. The Chicago Bears have already ruled him as doubtful for this week’s matchup with the Raiders. However, we have been waiting and waiting for an expected timeline that just has not been announced yet.

Matt Eberflus has not been very forthcoming on the situation. He just keeps talking about how the swelling needs to diminish before they can make a true determination. Eberflus has yet to rule out Fields going on injured reserve with the ability to return and he honestly hadn’t ruled out season-ending surgery yet either. We still don’t know if Fields is likely to miss one week, four weeks or six weeks. However, we do know that season-ending surgery is off the table.

Chicago Bears quarterback will not need surgery on his dislocated thumb

According to Ian Rapoport, Justin Fields will not need surgery. Tyson Bagent is expected to start, but Fields’ return will be dependent on when he will be able to fully grip the football. Remember, Fields dislocated the thumb on his throwing hand and as we mentioned already, it’s highly likely that he has some ligament damage. The doctor I spoke with, Dr. Jesse Morse gave us a potential timeline of four to six weeks as long as Fields didn’t require surgery. Well, that’s the news so I am expecting to see him play a minimum of five games to finish out the season.

Chicago Bears, Justin Fields

I know many fans will be talking about how they want Justin Fields to miss the rest of the year or at least a large portion of what’s left in the season. Those fans are confident that Fields is not the best quarterback for the job and looking to see what Tyson Bagent brings to the table. All of us should be rooting for Bagent on Sunday. I know it’s easy to hope the team loses and gets closer to holding the first and second picks in the draft, however, the best thing for this organization is the team turning things around. This could prove if it’s a Fields issue, a Getsy issue, or worse…both.
