‘FANTASTIC AGAIN’: JERMAIN DEFOE THINKS ANTONIO CONTE SIGNING AT TOTTENHAM CAN’T BE STOPPED
Jermain Defoe has hailed Yves Bissouma for being ‘fantastic again’ as Tottenham Hotspur secured a stoppage-time win over Liverpool.
A lot has been made of the on-field refereeing decisions and the VAR calls during the game, but nothing should take away from how Yves Bissouma bossed proceedings in the middle of the park again.
Yes, for large parts, Liverpool were down to ten men, and then later nine, but Tottenham’s man in the middle continued to dazzle and carry the ball forward for fun.
It left Jermain Defoe mightily impressed and he spoke about how it’s ‘hard not to get excited’ by this new-look Ange Postecoglou side, as he told Premier League Productions (30/09/23 at 7:35 pm).
Unbeaten. Playing free-flowing and risky football. Picked up a point at Arsenal and now beating Liverpool.
Harry Kane is quickly being forgotten about on Tottenham shores, with Defoe loving every minute of what’s happening at the club right now.
Bissouma shines bright again
“Fantastic start to the season, so hard not to get excited,” said Defoe. “It’s still early days, but you look at the table. It’s fantastic.
“It’s a different sort of atmosphere compared to last season. That man in Bissouma. He was fantastic again. And it has been just a fantastic start.”
Antonio Conte and Bissouma
When Bissouma first joined Spurs from Brighton, he arrived with big expectations on his shoulders and the hope that he would add value to the club’s midfield.
But he never got to showcase his true worth, instead, he struggled for form, game time and injuries.
Yet, fast forward to the present, and it’s a different story altogether because he is one of Tottenham’s best players.
