Jets wide receiver says he wants to cut his contract because he is unhappy with his role this season.

Jets RB Reveals He’s Frustrated With His Role This Season

When the New York Jets acquired running back Dalvin Cook during the offseason, they felt they had put together a superteam with him, future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, and their cadre of young studs on both sides of the football.

But Rodgers got hurt in their first game, and Cook hasn’t exactly been the player he was the last several seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

But Rodgers got hurt in their first game, and Cook hasn’t exactly been the player he was the last several seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

He has gotten a limited number of touches, and through six games he has just 109 rushing yards on 39 carries, which is a far cry from the type of production he’s used to.

Cook has admitted he’s frustrated about his diminished role, and although his name has come up in trade rumors, he says he doesn’t want to be traded, per Andy Vasquez

Cook made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons, and in each of those seasons, he ran for over 1,150 yards.

At age 28, one figures he still has plenty left in the tank, at least for the next couple of seasons before he reaches the point at which NFL running backs historically fall off a cliff.

Somehow, even without a competent QB, the Jets have battled to a respectable 3-3 record, and they could end up being in position to seriously challenge for a playoff spot this winter.

Breece Hall is clearly their RB1 and main threat in the backfield, and therefore if they did indeed trade Cook, perhaps they could recoup some of the draft capital they gave up to get Rodgers.
