Wouldn’t rule him out’: 26-year-old striker could still end up signing for Newcastle United
Newcastle United have two of the best strikers in the Premier League on their books at the moment.
Indeed, both Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak are absolutely dynamite strikers, but the Magpies could soon add a third exciting centre-forward to their ranks.
Speaking on the Fully Loaded Transfer Show, Graeme Bailey has shared something of a transfer update on Newcastle, and he’s named Flamengo’s Pedro as a player who could well end up signing for the Magpies in the near future.
Pedro could join Newcastle
Bailey shared what he knows about the 26-year-old and a few other Brazilian prospects.
“It’s not a new link for me. I have a list of around 30 Brazilian players I look at and that’s expanding every year. Marcos Leanardo is on that, he was close to West Ham in the summer, Newcastle do like this market, Andrey Santos is one they looked at and they didn’t get him. Pedrinho at Corinthians and Pedro at Flamengo who Newcastle have looked at as well, I wouldn’t rule him out of the equation,” Bailey said.
Overkill
As much as Pedro looks like an exciting talent over in Brazil, we can’t help but think this would be overkill from Newcastle.
As things stand, Eddie Howe is having to juggle between Wilson and Isak in the constant battle to be Newcastle’s starting striker, and if you add Pedro to that mix, you’re going to have at least one quality centre-forward who isn’t happy with his gametime.
There are other spots in this Newcastle squad that need addressing before they go out and sign another striker, and for that reason, we’d be advising the Magpies to keep this potential move on the backburner.
Pedro isn’t the player Newcastle should be prioritising at the moment.
