Three summer targets, including a striker for Peterborough United, that Wrexham should revisit in January, in our opinion
Wrexham is now in fourth place in League Two after beginning to show some signs of life.
Wrexham won the National League last year, and in their first eight games back in the Football League, they had only lost once. In their last seven games, they have gone undefeated in the league.
Over the summer, Phil Parkinson’s team recruited slowly and didn’t make hasty agreements. They ultimately added some astute personnel, like James McClean and George Evans.
This winter, the Red Dragons had the opportunity to add some players. Here are three players they ought to focus on after being associated with them during the previous transfer window.
Wrexham’s Jonson Clarke-Harris investigated the prospect of signing the Peterborough United striker. Darragh MacAnthony, the chairman of The Posh, stated on his podcast “The Hard Truth” that Wrexham had approached him and intended to submit a proposal, which was intriguing. For the player, it could have appeared like an odd decision, but I could see the rationale because if they got him, it would definitely mean back-to-back promotions for them.
“It seems that Hollywood had approved the move, but after that, they just stopped talking. I was surprised that they never got back to me, especially when I saw who they ultimately sought to sign.
29-year-old Clarke-Harris has played for his current team since 2020. Since then, he has 74 goals in 144 appearances across all competitions.
On the final day of the transfer window, a late agreement for the Harrogate Town forward fell through for Luke Armstrong Parkinson’s team. According to their website, they chose not to challenge the move.
If they still want him in a
few months, the opportunity will present itself for them to make another grab at him. Armstrong had a total of 16 goals last season.
According to London News Online, George Dobson Wrexham considering making a move for the captain of Charlton Athletic. He would be the perfect addition, and luring him down to the fourth rung would be a powerful declaration of intent.
If Dobson doesn’t sign a contract extension before his current deal expires next summer, the Addicks run the chance of losing him for nothing. He has previously played for Sunderland and Walsall.
