Andoni Iraola hints at whether Jaidon Anthony will join Leeds permanently next summer

Jaidon Anthony was a shock arrival at Leeds United in the final few minutes of the window, arriving on loan with Luis Sinisterra going the other way – and boss Andoni Iraola has now commented on the move.

Anthony, 23, joins leeds on a season-long dry loan. It comes after Sinisterra moved to Bournemouth, the Colombian leaving Leeds only hours after Daniel Farke said he was confident that the winger would stay.

While Leeds are losing the Colombian – probably, a better player than Anthony given the duo’s Premier League stats – they are bringing in a top winger. He has 15 goals and assists in 50 Championship games.

So, Anthony arrives at Leeds – our ninth signing of the summer. Leeds and Bournemouth did plenty of business, Tyler Adams also moving to The Vitality Stadium. We got Karl Darlow, they got Max Aarons.

Another link, is Cherries gaffer Iraola. Victor Orta’s top target to replace Jesse Marsch, back in February. He has commented on Anthony’s move to Leeds – and said he expects Anthony to return next summer.

“It is a decision he had to make. I tried to help him as much as I could. I love him as a person and as a player. Of the four games he has been with me, he has started three. He was very good in pre-season.

“But he had to. We have a lot of options out wide. I hope the best for him, he deserves it. I know he is going to play very well there in Leeds and I hope he returns next season even better as a player.”

It will be interesting to see what happens over the course of the next nine months. Anthony has shown that he can have an impact in the Premier League, during his time at Bournemouth. He has big potential.

But, he has four years on his Bournemouth contract. A good season at leeds means his value is only going to increase from what it is now. It may depend on what Bournemouth decide to do with Sinisterra.
