Birmingham City eye Swedish striker as Coventry City star closes on big money move

The Blues are eyeing an Eredivise striker as Coventry are set to lose one of their key players.

Birmingham City have been credited with an interest in Swedish striker Isac Lindberg – but face competition from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and Plymouth Argyle.

Birmingham City have been credited with an interest in Swedish striker Isac Lindberg – but face competition from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers and Plymouth Argyle.

The 24-year-old frontman has spent the last two seasons with Eredivise club Go Ahead Eagles after making a free transfer switch to the Netherlands following his departure from Swedish side Gefle. After scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances in all competitions, Lindberg is said to be attracting attention from clubs in France, Germany and Belgium, as well as the Championship trio.

Voetbal International have suggested Birmingham, Blackburn and Plymouth have all ‘noticed’ the striker’s form and revealed he could be allowed to leave De Adelaarshorst Stadium as he enters the final 12 months of his three-year contract this summer.

Birmingham have already added Derby County star Krystian Bielik, Royal Antwerp attacking midfielder Koji Miyoshi, Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts and Manchester United defender Ethan Laird to their ranks this summer and are believed to be in the market for a number of other potential additions.

If Gyökeres moves this summer, Brighton will earn a sell-on fee.

Coventry City reach ‘total agreement’ over striker deal

The future of Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres has dominated the headlines in recent months – and it now looks increasingly likely the Sweden international will depart in the near future.

Despite being linked with several Premier League clubs, Gyokeres now looks set to head to Sporting CP after Portuguese news outlet A Bola revealed the ‘green light’ could be given to a deal worth an initial £17m in the coming days. The report reveals the two clubs are ‘in total agreement’ over the move and are in the process of ‘finalising’ the deal to take the striker to the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Powell could inject some creativity into Middlesbrough's midfield.

Nick Powell is reportedly set to turn down offers from West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City and join League Two club Stockport County.

The 29-year-old recently left Stoke City after his contract came to an end and had major interest from several clubs in the Championship and offers from clubs in the MLS. However, Football League World have claimed Powell is ready to snub all of them to drop into the fourth tier of English football with Stockport.
