Chiefs-Dolphins Matchup In Frankfurt Draws Record Audience For NFL Network; Fox Sets Season-High Viewership With Eagles-Cowboys

Audiences in the U.S. were awake bright and early on Sunday to watch the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Miami Dolphins from Frankfurt, Germany.

Despite a 9:30 a.m. ET start time, the matchup is now the most-watched NFL Network international game on record with 9.6M people tuning in. The audience was up 66% versus last season’s Week 10 international game in Munich. That matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed an audience of 5.8M.

According to the NFL, streaming for the game was also favorable with an average audience of 465,000, up 80% versus last year’s Munich game.

While the Chiefs-Dolphins game was quite the win for NFL Network, it was bested by every other Week 9 game in terms of total audience.

America’s Game of the Week on Fox led the pack, with 27.41M viewers tuning in to watch the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Dallas Cowboys. That matchup now takes over as the most-watched NFL telecast of the season and the most-watched telecast of any kind across any network since Super Bowl LVII.

The game raked in about 1.5M more viewers than the previous record setter, which was the Jets-Eagles romp during Week 6.

Meanwhile, Fox broadcast the Rams-Packers game in a majority of markets for its early Sunday window, only managing about 11.46M viewers, which was second to last among this week’s telecasts.

In second place was NBC with the Bengals-Bills game, which tallied 18.36M viewers. CBS’ Sunday telecast of the Seahawks-Ravens eked out a win over the Chargers-Jets Monday Night Football matchup on ABC/ESPN. Both took home around 14.5M viewers.

Prime Video is still seeing some impressive viewership gains, as well. With 11.52M viewers for the Titans-Steelers, the streamer is touting a 47% audience increase versus last season’s comparable game.

Thursday Night Football, the property is showing no signs of letting up, as last night’s Titans-Steelers matchup posted a +47% viewership increase over last season’s comparable game. That’s the second-largest year-over-year increase for TNF this season, trailing behind the 57% jump that the Broncos-Chiefs registered against its 2022 counterpart.
