Striker Stephy Mavididi is due to be unveiled by Leicester City next week after reports he underwent a medical at the club on Saturday.

The 25-year-old is set to become Enzo Maresca’s fifth summer signing as the City push for an immediate return to the Premier League. They have so far recruited Harry Winks, Conor Coady, Callum Doyle and shot-stopper Mads Hermansen.

Stephy Mavididi in action for Montpellier

After three seasons at Montpellier, former Arsenal academy graduate Mavididi will make the switch to the King Power for a reported fee of around €7.5million (£6.4m). He flew into the UK earlier this week to complete a medical.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that the striker signed his contract with City on Saturday, with an official announcement due next week.

He tweeted: “Understand Stephy Mavididi has signed his contract as new Leicester player – after medical. Told deal will be announced next week and not today/tomorrow [Saturday/Sunday].”

City are playing their final friendly in Singapore with Liverpool this morning (10am). Mavididi will link up with his new team mates at Seagrave as preparations are set to continue ahead of their Championship opener with Coventry City next Sunday (August 6, 12pm).

The Englishman scored 21 goals in 98 appearances for the French team following his arrival from Juventus.
