Hull City have agreed a move to sign former Crystal Palace winger Jason Lokilo, as the Tigers look to add pace and width to their squad ahead of the new season.

Lokilo had been expected to join Azerbaijani outfit Qarabağ but has now agreed terms on a surprise move to City, with Liam Rosenior bolstering his attacking ranks – it’s expected he’ll sign a two-year deal with an option of a third once a medical has been completed.

The 24-year-old has struggled to find regular football in recent seasons having come through the academy at Belgian side Anderlecht before going on to play for Palace, where he made one appearance after joining the Eagles at the age of 17.

Lokilo was sent on loan to Doncaster Rovers in 2020, where he joined up with Darren Moore on deadline day in January, along with Aston Villa ace Jacob Ramsey, who has since become one of English football’s hottest young talents

Born in Brussels, Lokilo has represented DR Congo at Under-17 level and played his last game in June for Turkish side Istanbulspor where he made 16 appearances during the campaign, scoring four goals in the Super Lig.

City boss Rosenior has made speedy wingers a priority this summer, and the pacey Lokilo, although left-footed, operates off the right flank and is capable of cutting inside.

Rosenior brought in Malcolm Ebiowei in January, but that move didn’t work out and a summer move for the former Derby County youngster was subsequently scrapped.
